Chagrin Connect, part of the overall Lake Erie Connect study, focuses on connecting Western Lake County communities to the Chagrin River and Lake Erie.
Study Area
The study area includes ten municipalities in Western Lake County surrounding the lower (downstream) portion of the Chagrin River. They are Willowick, Lakeline, Eastlake, Willoughby, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Mentor, Waite Hill, Kirtland, Willoughby Hills, and Wickliffe.
Flowing through Portage, Geauga, Cuyahoga, and Lake Counties, the Chagrin boasts 71 designated Ohio Scenic River miles between the main and east branch. These streams are popular with anglers, hikers, and paddlers.
Goals
- Create a comprehensive regional trail and public access plan to Lake Erie and the Chagrin River
- Determine priority sites for waterfront access opportunities
- Leverage the concurrent NOACA Lake Erie Connect study
